Marco Materazzi deserves what he gets…

Le mie sfere!… if it’s true, what they’re saying. Don’t get me wrong… Zidane made the wrong move butting him like that, and he deserved to be shown the red card for it. What a horrible way to end a career in front of the whole world. I can’t imagine how he must feel today.

If Materazzi said something to deserve that sort of reaction, fine. But save it for the tunnel or the parking lot, Zinadine! There’s speculation that Materazzi used a racial slur to provoke Zidane. If so, he needs to be punished for it. Provocation is part of the game (most games), like it or not, but it doesn’t need to be disrespectful and nasty. If it’s true, he should be stripped of his part in the World Cup.

And another thing… despite the 1-1 score throughout the game, the truth is… France was playing the better game. This is truly a case where the better team lost. Hear that, Italy. Your cup is somewhat hollow, because your team was being pounded against the wall most of the game. You did not win because you played better.

As much as I loved every minute of it, I’ve grown weary of the World Cup. I can’t wait for the EPL and my beloved Arsenal to ramp up again in August!

Rooney, you DINGUS.

I get the feeling Christiano Ronaldo is kind of a tool. It hurts to see a smirking, self-absorbed twit like this win. Yeah, he’s got great skills, no denying him that. But it takes more than that to be great. There’s almost no chance that a person like him can be great with his sort of attitude.

DingusI guess no one will really know how it went down on the pitch besides those involved, but it was an ugly end to what could have been a great effort on the part of the whole Three Lions club. Despite the 0-0 score, England was playing the better match when Becks went off hurt. They continued playing the better match after Rooney got himself ejected too. But it wasn’t enough. Rookie move, Wayne. I hope I’m wrong and you weren’t steppng on that guy on purpose, but it sure as hell didn’t look that way. That was the World Stage you were on, not some scrub match in a vacant lot somewhere.

Yeah, there’s some speculation as to whether or not the ref sent him off for the stomp to the groin or the shove on Ronaldo. If it was just the shove, then the ref overreacted. But, we all saw that it wasn’t just a shove. Whether the ref saw the groin stomping or not, Rooney deserved to be sent off for it. Next time, if you’re allowed to represent your country, keep your cool and win the damn game for England, Wayne. If you want to step on people’s balls, do it somewhere else and on your own time.

Now I have to hope Thierry & Les Bleus can remove Portugal from the running. BTW, way to go France!! Excellent playing and I’m pulling for you to beat Germany in the Finals! It will be a classic. Now maybe they’ll stop runnng those Eric Cantona ads with the Samba Boys every 10 minutes. Ugh…
