Arsenal 1-1 Everton

Everton FCWell, 0-1 so far at the half. Seems like the boys didn’t get off to a very good start, then they started turning up the heat after Everton scored… although, said heat has yet to produce the equalizer.

Not sure what’s up with Fox Soccer Channel in the states, they somehow elected to air the Aston Villa v Liverpool game rather than this one, so now I’m crowded around my laptop with the kids watching the live feed of the Arsenal match… with Chinese commentary. Better than nothing, but my Mandarin is a bit rusty. Second half coming up…

Update: Robin Van Persie finds the back of the net on a set piece! 1-1

Update: 1-1 Final. One point’s better than none. This knocks us back to 5th. It’s getting tight at the top, although Man U & Chelsea seem to just continue running away with 1& 2.

West Brom 0-2 Arsenal

I didn’t get to catch this one, but the results are in. Another win for the Gunners, this time over good ol’ West Bromwich Albion for the latest round of the Carling Cup. Myself, I don’t quite understand the Carling Cup and how it fits in, but I’m not complaining… anything that brings more opportunities to see Arsenal on the pitch is a good thing.

Things are looking better and better with each game for this side. And I really can’t wait for the Everton match this weekend. We could take third with a win, I think even if Bolton wins, due to GD, but I’m not sure there.

Reading 0-4 Arsenal

Reading FCThumped. Hard. And now we sit at 4th in the table. Great show by the Gunners! I thought after that first TH goal at 58 seconds the Reading boys were going to make a game out of it, and for a while that seemed to be the way it was heading. But then it just got better and better for Arsenal as each goal got better looking than the last. A terrific birthday gift for the boss, I’d say. Happy Birthday, Arsรจne!!

CSKA Moscow 1-0 Arsenal

UEFAUgh… well, that sucked. I just read up on the game, since I couldn’t get it here on TV. I hear Thierry’s goal at 86 was disallowed on a crumby handball call. Was it intentional? eh, whatever… there’s always next time. We’re only one point back. Plenty of time to rectify that.

4th in the table now

English Premier LeagueSo, depending on what Bolton do to the Magpies at St. James Park tomorrow, we’re either 4th or (most likely) 5th in the table, after 7 games (which I’ll update Monday morning). I know it’s too soon to start talking about position with 31 games to go, but I like the quick move back to the top, after being as low as 17th. Hopefully we’ll be up and stay there.

Update: Well, as I thought… Bolton crapped on our parade and bumped us down to 5th. No bother, it shouldn’t be long before that’s rectified. If the right scenario plays out next week, we could be looking at 3rd in the table.
