Portsmouth 0-0 Arsenal

PortsmouthFizzle… well, we looked good, but didn’t get it done. Portsmouth found the net, but it was disallowed. I really had my fingers crossed for taking 3rd place from Liverpool, but it was not to be. They had us by two goals on differential going in, and that didn’t change as both sides drew. Oh well. But, I will say that despite some disappointments, particularly in the way of injuries, it was one hell of a year. And I’m proud of the way Arsenal played. Win, lose or draw… their comprehensive brand of football is just beautiful to watch. And I am already getting excited for next year. We’ve got some Emirates Cup action in July which should give us a nice preview. Until then, we get to rest and think of things to come.

Arsenal 1-1 Chelsea

ChelseaVery frustrating. Is it me, or did someone flip the damn momentum switch somewhere and turn that match on its head? Even before Chelsea went down a man, Arsenal were pounding them so it seemed as if we’d take it 3-0. Then, all of a sudden, we’re up against the wall and Chelsea’s playing as if they had 12 men on the pitch rather than 10. It was very hard to watch the last 30 minutes after watching the first 60, that’s for sure.
Manchester UnitedBut, I suppose yet another draw with Chelsea is better than losing to them. In fact, I’m pretty proud of our record against the rest of the big four this year. Of the 6 games played against the top teams, we lost only once to Liverpool, drew twice with Chelsea, and served two defeats to our new Prem champions, Manchester United. Something no other big team can say. But as they say, the Premier League is a marathon, not a sprint. And although our record speaks for itself, you really have to admire the run Manchester United put in this year. Very impressive, boys. That trophy is well deserved. Congratulations, Sir Alex & The Red Devils and your fans. Well done!
