After a win over PSG and then another over Inter, Arsenal have hoisted a little pre-season silverware in the form of the Emirates Cup.
Overall, the team seems to have gotten a great workout from the competition, and I’d say they were pretty impressive overall. They looked solid, with all new additions seeming to fit in with the squad quite well. I’m even more excited for the upcoming Premier League season now than I was at the end of last year. They just seem to be firing on all cylinders.
Also, there some flashes of pure brialliance… In particular, that final goal from Robin Van Persie against Inter. Simply stunning footwork from the Dutchman. I had to watch the replay on that one at least a dozen times, and it’s just perfect. If that’s any indication of what Robin’s season is going to look like, he may take the pain of losing Henry away completely. Thank you, Robin. More, please.

First defeat of the season. Oh well… I hear the boys put on quite a show, but the Red Bull team knocked one home 15 minutes from time. All I’ve read so far indicate that despite the score, the team is looking good.
The only other downside to yesterdays match are that TR7 pulled a hammy. Not good, although I read something this morning that indicated it wasn’t very serious. Let’s hope so. I’m really hoping that Tomas has a good season. He seems like yet another of those young Arsenal players who’s on the verge of something really big. Although definitely a solid player all around, we saw flashes of his potential brilliance last season that make me believe he could really leave his mark this year.

Another sad day in the off-season… although many are saying it was time, seeing Freddie in Hammers strip won’t be easy. It’s been great watching you over the years, Freddie. And, finding a good picture of you with all your clothes on has been difficult… so I went with this one. Best of luck, except when you’re playing us. Another friendly win. Two for Van Persie and one for Walcott. I didn’t get to see the game, but judging by the match report, all the squad was looking sharp. Eduardo made his debut and made a nice cross to Lungberg, but he headed it wide. Adebayor supposedly looked great.

Looks like we’re off to a good start in the pre-season with the Gunners traditional opening friendly with Barnet. I’m digging the look of the away strip this year. It’s hard to tell, but there are bars of some sort of script print on the jerseys. Not sure what that is. The pictures on the website don’t get close enough to read it. Very much looking forward to Paris St. Germain & Inter in the next two weeks.
