Sunderland 0-1 Arsenal

Sunderland FCThird. Despite all the talk of what could have been, third doesn’t feel so bad to me. It truly does feel like a solid improvement. And in light of the colossal downfall we had earlier in the year, it could have been worse. Look what we lived through, and we still pulled off third. And, rode the top of the table for much of the year. A lesser team would be lucky to have survived what we did and still have a place in Europe next year.

So, we wound out our year at the Stadium of Light with another one-nil to the Arsenal. Early in the season, I had visions of us holding aloft the silverware in the Stadium of Light. But it was not to be. No matter. I have every bit of confidence that our time is coming soon. Keep faith Gooners, our time is coming.

Theo Walcott’s strike has been written off as somewhat unimpressive. But, I thought it was rather well done. I thought it showed a confident ability to finish… and (I hate to compare the lad, I really do), but didn’t he remind you of another player there for just a moment? I won’t say who, but let’s leave it at that. Well done, Theo. I am really looking forward to next season, and he is a big part of that.

I’m going to do a more thorough write up of the season overall, but that’s not for this post. But I will close this last Arsenal post for the year with:

Well done, Gunners. Very well done. You have made this fan more than proud and I anxiously await the start of the next campaign. In the meantime, have a wonderful and restful break, which you all so richly deserve.
